Welcome to this course, where you will work on artifacts for the different phases of product management from design to launch. Here, you will experience product management simulations. This course is intended to sharpen your product management skills through capstone projects and improve your career prospects in product management. A capstone project is a final project that integrates knowledge and skills and where you can showcase your expertise using simulations. A capstone project involves research, analysis, and problem solving, thus bridging academic learning with practical application and preparing learners for success in their chosen professions. This course is part of the Product Management Professional Certificate courses. It is designed for individuals in the field of product management and is suitable for a variety of roles, including product managers, product management specialists, and marketing professionals. This six-module course welcomes anyone who wants to explore the world of product management. In Module 1, you will learn the product manager's role and the required skills to become successful. You will demonstrate your knowledge and skills using a product development scenario. Next, you will explore Porter's Five Forces model and the Ansoff Matrix to understand how to evaluate market attractiveness that supports decision-making and planning. Next, in Module 2, you will begin the product development lifecycle with the conceive and plan phases. In the conceive phase, you will learn how to develop a product concept document and product vision document. In the plan phase, you will know how to develop the product requirements document. You will acquire practical skills to develop these documents using the given product scenario. In the third module, you will proceed to the develop and qualify phases of the product development lifecycle. In the develop phase, you will learn how to prepare a beta plan that outlines how the product will be validated by potential buyers and users to ensure it is ready to market. In the qualify phase, you will acquire knowledge of how the product moves from development to its launch. You will explore three stages of the qualify phase, including market validation, launch preparation, and launch readiness assessment. Module 4 explores the launch, deliver, and retire phases. In the launch phase, you will learn how to develop a demand generation plan. In addition, you will explore launch and post-launch activities. You will understand the product lifecycle process and its four stages, introduction, growth, maturity, and decline. In the retire phase, you will learn how products are discontinued or phased out using one of three ways—harvest the product, sell the product, or discontinue the product. You will create an end-of-life plan. In the last module, you will complete a final exam and apply the knowledge you have acquired throughout this course to develop a final hands-on project. You will also get a bonus module 6 on how to develop a personal portfolio. A portfolio can act as a tool that shares information about yourself, highlights your skills, and provides examples of your work. So there is a lot to cover here.
